/edit 14/03/2004: Since I first posted this choicecaster.com has been taken over by the domain squatter types, so I've changed the link to a download page for Real Alternative. It's like choicecaster was, but you don't even need to have realplayer installed in the first place. Real Alternative (and Quicktime Alternative) are distributions of Media Player Classic, an excellent media player indeed.

Final bit: Yes, I am very proud of my number 3 google ranking for I hate realplayer.

Realplayer pisses me off. There should be a bonfire celebrating the death of realplayer.

For those whose visit to my site is fuelled by a hatred of realplayer, I have some news to share with you. If you haven't already got it google "real alternative" and go for a little download. Some clever bastridge has combined the realplayer codec with media player classic to form an extremely compelling media playing solution.
You should definitely download this, also "quicktime alternative" performs a similar service for those who have to deal with the not-quite-as-bad-but-still-pretty-shithouse media player from Apple.

I just wanted to say, I searched for "hate realplayer" in Google and came up with this gem. Now I don't have to reinstall Realplayer and Quicktime with Windows - THANKS!!! I've searched fruitlessly for a long time, thank you for helping me find it!

Super buddy brainwash to keep this nasty player on your machine. I dont want REAL or Viewpoint. Thus no super buddy for me neither.

To remove "Realplayer" from AOL 9.0 do the following :

1) set your computer to see "all files" the one you want is hidden.
2) DELETE , the folder "JITI" and the file "jiti.dll"
3) use ADD/REMOVE in the normal way and RESTART
4) use Regedit to clean up the remnants

Your done , no more realplayer and it will not reinstall. Best of all
it's not on your machine. I do not like the lazy "Msconfig" advice for it still remains on your machine that way.

Oh Yes , now every time you start AOL , it nags you !!!

To solve this , do the following :

1) open aol settings and uncheck the AOL media player defaults.
2) DELETE the nag file "nmpx.dll"

ALL DONE :-) hope this helps and I hope AOL stops forced software loading.
