I am getting sick of

I am getting sick of the WTC crisis infecting everything. I have had a couple of people ask me if I'd actually heard anything about it because I don't have a TV. I laughed at them. The places I frequent on the web have given me more exposure than even the average TV. I found out about the 1st crash in a Team Fortress game, watched things unfold on MSNBC until the server was overloaded, then resorted to a TV. Since then the topic has spread to the furthest reaches of the web. Many of the sites I visit daily have taken down their content. That doesn't really bother me, it's a small sign of respect and mourning for the dead. Personally I havn't posted anything about it at all until now for the same reason - the world doesn't need my ill-considered opinion on what should happen to the terrorists, who should be bombed, or in my case who shouldn't be bombed.

I'm getting worried though. The issue is sprouting on the furthest reaches of the web. Flame wars are spreading, overlapping, relighting, jumping from node-to-node. Probably the worst one I have seen was on...
[stop]

I won't change anything by finishing this. I just hope everyone will think a little harder before jumping in and posting something thoughtless, or writing an angry email, or throwing a brick. There have been fights here in Australia. I was talking to Rainer on the phone the other day while he was @ QUT. In the background there was yelling and carrying on and a fight broke out. Relating this story to Carly last night and she already knew about it.

Almost everyone I know has been affected by this. I got an email from my cousin Amelia about an hour after it happened saying that she wasn't in the area when the plane hit...

Don't let your temper win. Don't hurt someone just because they wear a veil.
