Rectangles with meaning

My Eyes Are Open

So I'm making some.. Stuff. You can't find out what this stuff is until its reached its intended destination, but the main thing about this stuff is that it's pretty cool. Dr Dave and I have been discussing stuff preparation for a while, and he has given me some pretty damn cool information:

Jaymis: it's going to be.. about twice the height of A4. just under
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: that would be a3 sunshine
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: A4 + A4 = A3
A3 + A3 = A2
A2 + A2 = A1
Jaymis: jah.. but A4 + A4 on top of each other is no A3
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: ahh
that way
Jaymis: so.. it would be the width of an A1 high
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: C3
Jaymis: cool
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: i wouldnt actually say that to anyone
because i just made it up
theres not much chance of it being right

you dont often encounter those dimensions
Jaymis: yeah. I like my way of describing better
Jaymis: lucky we've got a big fuckin roll of butchers paper here
Jaymis: :)
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: by the way, the A series of paper sizes are based on these simple principals:

the height divided by the width of all formats is the square root of two
format a0 has an area of one square metre
format a1 is a0 cut into two equal pieces

so smaller a series are defined in the same way
if you cut format An parallel to its shorter side in two equal parts these will be the format A(n+1)
and a series are all rounded to millimetres
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: so eat that
Jaymis: ooh. one square metre. didn't know that shit.
Jaymis: that's very fucking clever.
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: it wouldnt be c
because c is for envelopes

for instance you cant put a piece of a4 paper in an a4 envelope
cause they're the same fuckin size
so if you dont want to fold it, you put it in a c4
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: working out b series sucks much anus though
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: The width and height of a Bn format are the geometric mean between those of the An and the next larger A(n-1) format. For instance, B1 is the geometric mean between A1 and A0, that means the same magnification factor that scales A1 to B1 also scales B1 to A0.

Jaymis: are you copying this from a site, or is this on the toilet wall at work?
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: but you could put an a4 page into a c4 envelope and then put that in a b4 envelope
if you fold a letter in half so that its a5 format
you can put it nicely in a c5 envelope
Jaymis: oooh. very clever.
Jaymis: I was completely unaware of this, the furthest paper geometry I knew was that a4 is a3 folded in half is a2 folded in half is a1 folded in half
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: i copied the The width and height of a Bn format are the geometric mean between those of the An and the next larger A(n-1) format. For instance, B1 is the geometric mean between A1 and A0, that means the same magnification factor that scales A1 to B1 also scales B1 to A0.
the rest is toilet wall, and some facts i was reminded of when i went to that site

on our shelf of crap at work a long time ago i wrote 'do you get what you like or do you like what you get?'
and after over 2 years of looking at it
i finally wrote 'neither' after it

A while later

.:[ èmpathy ]:.: i think i can get vinyl work done for cheap/free
and i can definatly get them done CRAPLY for cheap/free
and i might be able to get the materials thrown at me for free

and i might be able to get a $3k grant from the local council which i could basicly get by putting up a sign on my bedroom door saying 'carlingford digital arts society' and blowing the money on drugs and NADelectronics

because a friend of mine has parents which are involved in these practises
and that friends girlfriend happens to love me more than puppies
Jaymis: HOW COOL ARE PUPPIES!!!
Jaymis: printing stuff, brb

.:[ èmpathy ]:.: while your gone

the same height divided by width is the square root of 2 thing also applies to pens
so 2.00mm, 1.40mm, 1.00mm etc

this seems right fuckin silly
until you realise you can draw on an a3 piece of paper with a 0.35 pen
photocopy it and reduce it to a4
and carry on drawing with an 0.25 pens

leet
Jaymis: FUCK ME
Jaymis: that is fucking clever
Jaymis: that's the cleverest shit I've heard for a long time.
Jaymis: I'm going to post it on my site, that's how clever I think that is.

.:[ èmpathy ]:.: can you please start the post with what you just said to me?
Jaymis: with the fuck me thing?
.:[ èmpathy ]:.: yeah

"....and blowing the money on drugs and NADelectronics...."

NAD is in capitals cos we all know he really means me. NADine.

Muahahahaha

where does my 0.7 light-faber[castell] fit into the equation?

hey j, have you got a crank, cassette, or chain tool at your pad? rob craves them.

Its the coolest thing he's heard since I explained to him how parity files worked.
