Well, there is now a rather Jade shaped hole in my life. Rowland helped me ease into my new existance by bringing over some rather lovely beers, getting drunk, eating pizza and watching 28 Days Later (rather cool, watch it if you like zombie movies).
Last night was Band of Brothers with Jum and Kris, well until mid episode 2 when it became Band of Brothers with Jum and Slumbering Kris.
When I hit Bris again I found a late christmas present in the form of my Driver Book "Just Another Empire", a little soggy from the bris.deluge but I've been able to read all the words presented so far. Of course I was introduced to Driver by Dr Dave, I of course had to inform him how much of a fantastic time I was having reading it:
[02:24] Jaymis: FUCK dude. fuckin driver man. check this shit out. book's going along. jay is reading, starting to think "jesus, I think he's getting a little bogged down, what the fuck is going on", then page 18 turns up..
[02:27] Jaymis: "Okay, is it just me or is this book already say too serious? It's not my fault! I just started writing and it started happening. I mean, 'muffled shrieks of glee rattled around her corrugated throat'? Who the fuck do I think I am? I'm really sorry. I'm new at this. That is, I've never written a book before. Crap. Crap. Crap. Now you know what a stinking hack second-rate amateur I am. Right outta the gate and I've already blown both feet off. Okay, gotta be cool. We can play this one off. Let me make a sollem promise to you, the reader: This book is gonna be _fun_ to read. Okay? Fun. It'll get better as it goes along. I'll even throw in some flowery junk for the ladies. Oh crap. Was that sexist? Jesus. I'm just gonna stop talking here. I'll just get out of the way... and we can let the good times roll. Sorry. Really. Okay. I'm leaving."
That was somewhere around Chapter Three, since then I've read Another Chapter, Another Chapter, Another Chapter, in fact about 5 Another Chapters, and have been enjoying strange driveresq twists on post settler Louisiana, as well as hearing about how much beer costs at his local pub and how he got fired from his last job.
Oh, and guess what! There's a new Driver! On his Site! No excuse kiddies. There's plenty of Driver to go around, so get onto it.
No, you can't borrow the book after I've finished reading. Dave's already got dibbs. You can probably borrow it after Dave though. Form an orderly queue.
Me? Well tonight there happens to be a gig at the powerhouse fraturing Regurgitator, Ponyloaf, Sekiden, Butterfingers and Full Fathom Five for some zero dollars. So I'm there. Soon.
