the Real Elsewhere

If you're reading this from underneath a rock somewhere you're probably not aware of the whole Jade + Italy = Jaymis-saving-up-to-go-to-italy thing. I'm not going to tell you about it again so you can just go back a couple of posts and figure it out for yourself. I've been putting money away for a while, but just recently started working on the actual logistics involved. Most recently it has revolved around making lots of websites for people and selling all of the cool shiny stuff that I won't really have a use for in the forseeable future. I've made almost $300 from shininess so far, so that's covered my new driver's licence, passport application, a deposit into my Italy Account, and another chunk paid off my credit card.

I've really curbed spending as well recently. Usually selling all this gear would be utilised as an excuse to go buy more computery stuff, but I've decided that - apart from the camera I require to keep arting it up while I'm in other continents - I'm not going to buy anymore technology until I next am able to be in physical contact with this person I like (yes, you're right kids, it's most definitely love). Of course once that first hug has concluded (I'm guessing it'll take a couple of hours at least) well then it's open season. Technological orgy 2004.

Not really, but I have to try and maintain at least a bit of my geek cred.

Jade has decided that her Crumpler isn't really the ideal incognito bag, and I'd basically come to that conclusion of my own accord, Wack o phone has been pretty good for lugging tech around the city, but at the moment it's straining at the seams a bit when I use it to card my full VJ rig around. That's just laptop, external drive, ucontrol, powerboard and related cabling. Definitely not enough room for a clothes and other travel-related gear.

I've been thinking about other solutions for transporting my laptop and other necessities while I'm travelling. Obviously a decent backpack will have to come into the equation at some stage, I'm sure Rowland-el-MountainDesigns-maestro will be able to help me out choosing something like that, but for faffing around the place with just the basics I'm thinking, well, actually I think my crumpler could probably keep me sorted. Hmm, how's that for a change of heart mid-post. I was getting all sorted to link the School Hymn and go on about sticking that in a smaller backpack, but if I've only got laptop, digi, possibly video camera, crumpler should deal with that without causing too much whinging.

Second ultra favourite bonus round - I already own my crumpler. Which means Less Spending Of Superfluous Money. How good is that!

Of course if I was to be buying a new crumpler, I would most definitely get it from pcau. Cheaptastic!
