Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!
Things be looking UP negroes.
This latest injection of money is due to my recent completion of a website, for possibly the best client in the world. He knows exactly what he wants and he can articulate it to me via email, but isn't afraid to take contrary ideas into consideration. He's fast with email. He knows enough about the underlying tech that I don't have to explain utterly basic shit - now to go "accounts", now click "add new account", now type "mail.4ph.com" in where it says "pop3 server", but he's not some being who knows it all but doesn't have any talent to back it up.
More work to do for this client-from-the-gods? Check.
Excellent.
This morning I was awoken at fuck-knows what time by a knock on the door. It takes more than just a single volley of knocks to actually shake me into consciousness though, so I was vaguely aware of someone (Alex it turns out) going to the door, opening it, greeting a courier, signing something, and bringing my LAPTOP back into its happy home. I'm pretty sure I tried to shout something along the lines of "yhhha, brngmelppptop" to alex as he walked down the hall and deposited the beautiful cardboard, foam padded courier box outside my door, but he obviously didn't hear me, and I quickly slid back into unconsciousness.
My alarm woke me at 12:30, I managed to get out of bed, trundle out of my room to retrieve the box, bring it in, get my keys from my crumpler to open the seal on the box, open the box, take the laptop out, close the box, put the laptop on my bed...
...and fall asleep.
Finally managed to get up at 2:30, groan my way around the house, drink some flat coke and get my stuff into the valley to check in with Cal, buy some chinese slippers for my ducky. They were $9.95! Bargain! How come the cutest stuff is always the cheapest? I think my camoflage dunlop volleys are the cheapest shoes I've bought for a couple of years, but I've worn them for more than 90% of the last 3 months. I would have bought some slippers myself if they'd had them in size Bloody Massive. The sequins are in a very fetching design.
Sushi was good. Mountain Designs don't have crumpler backpacks yet. Figured out how to use outline spraypaint caps too. Very productive day all round.
Linky Linky: I've seen dooce before, I think everyone knows about the Girl Who Lost Her Job Because Of Her Blog. I hadn't gone far at all into her site though until last night. That was a mistake. Her writing is excellent, somewhere in between Tycho's style any my own conversational ramblings. Pesh and I were reading through at the same time, and had to restrain myself from pasting every single paragraph I read of some posts. She est very much the funny. Go. Now. Read.
Time for More Stuff.
