and into another watery paradise. This time in Flagenfurt, Austria. On a stage floated in the lake, surrounded by bikini-clad dancers.
Aah this travelling thing is hard work.
So now I'm "computer specialist" or something like that for MoMix dance company. I've got my hotel room, the keys for my pushbike and I'm sitting on an ugly white plastic chair backstage. In order of distance I can see Beach towels and chairs, wet bikinied dancer, tanned kids, floating sunbathers, 5 white swans being fed chocolate bars, Rainer paddling on a yellow inflatable floaty thing, people in rowboats and sailboats, dark green pine forested hills, Austrian alps, a couple of clouds and blue sky.
Got in to Munich yesterday evening local time and was ferried with all speed to Halfing and Francos - the local italian restaurant/hangout. Dinner went until about 9:30pm at which time the sun set and we eventually retired inside for more "veissbier" (spelling pending, means Wheat Beer).
So the beer situation in Germany is thus: It's illegal to put preservatives in beer. There aren't really brands of beer as such because you can't really transfer it very far without preservatives, so everywhere you go the beer is brewed locally. The beer is good. It comes in half-litre glasses and according to Rainer it's medicine. I don't know for sure whether it causes hangovers or not because my beers last night had to fight for brain-toxin real estate with Gin and Tonics and bad red wine from the plane and also some kind of heinous Italian nightcap spirit dealie that Franco forced on everyone before we left at around midnight.
Up at 7ish, train to Salsberg, train to Flagensomething, car to the lake.
A most productive 24 hours I should say.
With Rach's brand spankly newish digi we managed to take about 500 photos in Thailand so there will be sights to come when I'm somewhere that I wouldn't feel ashamed about loading up photoshop. In the meantime... TIGERS!
We went to the tiger monestary and hung out with tigers. It was amazing, even more amazing than the elephants which was still rather cool. The food continued to be excellent and luckily we waited until the second last night before coming across Bug and Bee an excellent thai fusion restaurant which served some of the best food I've had anywhere in the world. Enough food and drink to stuff ourselves stupid costing about AU$13. Holy. Shit.
And now it's lunchtime. Joy.
i could not be more jealous of you right now. until you next post, of course.
