2 weeks until blastoff as of yesterday. Today found me at the West End Clinic, informing the doctor that I would be in Thailand in 13 days, he gave me this look like "I am the KING OF PAIN", gave me a note with a scribble and "NOT TO LEAVE FOR 30 MINUTES AFTER ADMINISTRATION" and then sent me across the road for a vial of HepA vaccination - the only one they didn't have in stock.
Left Arm: Typhoid, Hepatitus A
Right Arm: Tetanus
So right now I am in a bit of pain. Nowhere near as much pain as 8 hours ago when I couldn't lift my arms from my sides without shrieking in pain, but enough pain to know that I'll probably be sleeping on my back tonight.
Just a bit over 2 weeks since my last post, well that's not so bad now is it. Last time I bitched about having too much stuff to get done, well since then I've got most of that list done and even found time to write a 'nother whole new list.
Next week is Week O The Dentist, as I have not one but TWO appointments to get rather insignificant itsy bitsy holes in my teeth filled. In the process of sorting this happiness out I got to see some xrays which displayed my lovely wisdom teeth. I only have 2, they're on my lower jaw and funnily enough they're growing perpendicular to all of my other teeth. Yes, apparently I'm more evolved than many other humans as I only have two, but these have decided to go their own evolutionary path and aim to become tusks. INTERNAL tusks. I'm sure this would work out beautifully for them if not for my dastardly plan to have them sedated and forcibly removed from my mouth. Fuckers.
More from last time: I didn't win the DJ competition, Reuben did. I came third though, apparently due to the extremely creative nature of my mixing. TiAmos told me that my skills were weaktastic, but my track selection was excellent. I think my skills were actually pretty good on the night, but mixing Sigue Sigue Sputnic into Apollo 440 into The Police into Britney into New Order is quite fucking challenging, thanks very much. So I didn't win but I didn't compromise my artistic integrity (and I totally don't need decks and a mixer to wank on just like a real dj.) For anyone who's interested and for posterity here follows my first ever DJ setlist:
Theme from a Clockwork Orange
Sigue Sigue Sputnik - Love Missle F1-11
Apollo 440 - Heart go Boom
The Police - Roxanne
Britney Spears - Toxic
New Order - Blue Monday
Buffalo Bunch - Music Box
Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better
Cut Copy - Future
S-Express - Theme to S-Express
Rattattat - 17 years
The night after DJ competition was Blizzard! Which was Awesome! I VJd for 6 hours, which would have been a bit of a mammoth effort and probably rather tiring if it wasn't for the fridge full of redbull situated cunningly underneath my desk. There was shitloads of good music on the night, James De La Cruz (with whom visualising was a pleasure and an honor) was of course fucking superb, but Statler and Waldorf, Tomax (EAS ex-president Angry Don, who is currently sitting in my empty living room sucking 80s cop show themes through my ADSL like a trooper), PTY LTD, DRi and all the other musos put on awesome shows. I twiddled knobs like a motherfucker, drunk waaaaaaaay too much caffeiney goodness and still managed to crash into a deep sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow at whatever time that was.
Right now the house is almost empty. Al has completely moved out to a new apartment further into New Farm territory. Bag O Jes put the hard word on Lukie and he's almost completely moved in with her, only his computer, desk and futon remaining here. Speaking of futon; Luke is selling his futon! It's extremely cool and probably doesn't contain too much dessicated LukeJuice in there. If it does I recon he'll probably throw it in for free. I'm going to take a couple of boxes of stuff up to Toowoomba on Sunday, various computer things are going to Jum's place and after that, well I really did think that I had a lot more stuff than this.
I've been talking to Rainer quite a bit online and apparently there's quite a lot of work for me when I hit Germany. This is a Really Good Thing, as I've got a $5000 loan to pay off my credit card and leave me with some actual cash with which food can be obtained. I hope.
So - 12 days from now. Jet Aircraft to Bangkok. Jaymis will be on board. Probably frowning at his iPod and wondering why he put so many Sophie Ellis Baxter songs in there.
Wish me luck, bitches.
p.s. Elephants!
people who date my sister should not be allowed to travel to europe with them, this depriving me of not one, but TWO of my bestest hanging out with buddies.
:(
